Understanding Your Appraisal
How is your new salary calculated, and what does it mean for your take-home pay?
How the Math Works
Your hike is a percentage of your Current CTC.
Formula: Current CTC + (Current CTC × Hike %)
If your CTC is ₹10 Lakhs and you get a 10% hike, your new CTC is ₹11 Lakhs.
Gross vs. Net Hike
This calculator shows the increase in your Gross Pay. Your actual in-hand (Net) monthly increase will be slightly lower due to increased Income Tax (TDS), PF deductions, and professional taxes based on your new tax bracket.
Variable Pay Components
Companies often split your hike into Fixed and Variable components. Make sure to check your appraisal letter carefully—a 20% hike might look great, but if 15% is tied to tough variable targets, your guaranteed monthly take-home might not increase as much as you expect.
Standard Market Hikes
While it varies wildly by industry, standard annual performance appraisals in India typically range from 8% to 15%. Promotions or changing companies entirely can yield hikes of 20% to 40%+.
